My name is Aaron Harris, and I started wood-turning as a hobby during the pandemic summer shutdown of 2020 while I was still a full-time high school English teacher. After 27 years of pouring my heart and soul into getting the best from young people as I encouraged them to follow their dreams, I recently retired to take my own advice, and decided to pour that same passion and energy into my own dream.

I am now a full-time wood-turner in the Upstate of South Carolina focused on providing my customers with heirloom-quality turned platters and serving trays, center-piece fruit bowls, serving bowls  and other home decor that shows off your taste in fine, elegant home decor. Working with my arborist friend and neighbor Todd Kury of Upstate Arborists.  I am able to source the most choice local woods: ambrosia maple, black walnut, cherry, elm, dogwood. bradford pear and other woods are just some of the local trees I create my designs from.

Should you desire something more exotic, I have sources from around the country.

I invite you to peruse my Sale page to see if something catches your fancy. My work will make a unique, bespoke wedding gift, a fitting centerpiece for your fine dining table, a simple yet elegant catch-all tray for your wallet and keys, whatever you want it to be!

Or feel free to peruse  My Gallery  of past work for inspiration. As you can see, from a design standpoint, I am attracted to emerging shapes and floral motifs, ogee curves, recurved rims and a classic aesthetic with a modern twist. I offer a variety of finishes from totally food-safe satin finishes to the finest polish attainable from TruOil gunstock finish, all achieved by applying the hand-rubbed oil finish of your choice.

Finally, please reach out via email (or DM on Instagram @scouthikerdad1) if you would to collaborate on a truly one-of-a-kind custom creation. I would love nothing more than to have the privilege of bringing your vision in wood to life.
